Design Narrative:

The project over view has been to create a poster for the The Dance Company and their performance “Greatest Hits”. As well as designing their 30th year anniversary logo. The target audience would be primarily family and friends of the performers. But also, the general public. The goal was to create a fun and inviting poster to advertise the “Greatest Hits” performance. The poster along with the 30th year logo should be fun but also invoke a sense of celebration.

The poster and logo have a minimalist feel to them to keep the viewer informed on what the performance will be about but not get them distracted with crazy graphics all over. Also, the theme of the project was blue based off not only the original TDC logo but also is meant to represent the ocean at the beach and blue skies one might expect from summer. “Greatest Hits” is in a strong white and elegant font on the top of the poster within a black box to make it stand out but also show that dance is an elegant form of art. The two figures depicted are dancers from TDC and show what one might expect from the upcoming performance. The logo was made especially simple so that it can be used universally with ease. Whether that on keychains, shirts, posters, or documents. The goals set by the client were achieved in the form of a fun but simple poster that conveys what the recital will be about. And a logo that can be used universally that is easy to read and understand while still being decorative.
